after posting a slight rant…Although I think you should actually at least read everything before forming an opinion.
Saying that, if anyone disagrees with what I’m saying, feel free to reblog and add your comments. I look forward to hearing them. :)
So, the topic for today is gay marriage. This has stemmed from having these notifications appearing on my facebook stream every other minute.
“Such and such plus this many others have joined the group 1,000,000 for gay marriage/1,000,000 against gay marriage”
I personally have nothing against two people of the same gender being together, however I’m still not entirely sure how I feel on the subject of gay marriage. On one hand, there’s no difference. It’s just two people, sharing their love. However, when it comes to marriage under the religion of Christianity, I don’t think two people of the same gender should be married. When it specifically states in the bible, under King James Version: Leviticus Chapter 20 (correct me if I’m wrong, I’m referencing it from here):
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
Which leads me to wonder why someone of a homosexual nature would follow the Christian Faith, and wish to be married under it, when Christianity condemns it (although with lee-way for women). ** Edit ** I would have no problem with it, I just don’t understand why people would wish to be married under a religion that condemns it. Just to state, I am not, I repeat, NOT homophobic. ** Edit ** Although at the end of the day, I don’t think I know anyone who follows their religion to the book. Religion is just really categorising people with a similar set of beliefs, allowing them to meet up and share those beliefs with each other. Although that’s for another rant, another time.
There’s nothing stopping homosexuals from starting their own religion even, allowing gay marriage. This I would have no problem with at all. It could even make the world a better, more open minded place.
I don’t understand why anyone can have a problem with homosexuals. At the end of the day, it’s leaving them with less competition, to some extent helps to control the world’s ever increasing population. I mean, this could go the complete opposite, and we could even end up dying out (highly unlikely, but still). And that would be the day the earth cheered, and everything (if anything) left behind could florish, until the next world disaster species evolved. And seriously; if everyone was bisexual the world would be a much better place. More choice and all that, without the worry of chatting someone up and them not being interested as they like the opposite gender (this applying both ways).
At the end of the day, I think civil partnership all the way. Marriage has lost its meaning, and as a friend of mine once said:
“Marriage is just a bit of paper”.- Fu
Which it is. I don’t see how you can prove your love for someone more than cheering them up when they are sad, being there to hold them when they cry, kissing them and disappearing into a void where nothing really matters anymore, creating a child, spending the rest of your lives together /something which is going to turn very soppy.
Another point, I personally would rather not see two people of the same gender being affectionate. Now, does this make me homophobic? If you let me finish my point, you’ll realise I have the same opinion regardless of gender and sexuality. I’m not a fan of public displays of affection. It makes me very uncomfortable. Maybe I’m hetrophobic too? At the end of the day though, all I have to do is avert my eyes and all is sorted.
I may come back to this later, but I’ve semi-lost my flow.
If you’ve made it this far, I’m amazed. And I’d like to hear all your views on the matter.
